A new way to see Fashion Design & Change world

Introduction

In this blog post, I will attempt to conduct a psychological and creative analysis of a branch of design, Fashion Design. I will strive to provide good and supporting evidence to explain why I think in such a way. I hope to leave you with something to ponder about; hopefully, this will be educational and assist you with your thoughts.

What is Fashion Design?

When you Google “What is fashion design?”, this is what comes up:

Fashion Design Google Search

“Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories.”

From an academic perspective, a more intellectual response might be, “We identify fashion design as a specialized branch of design focused on clothing and accessories.”

Now, let’s explore the true essence of fashion design.

What is Fashion Design all about?

What is fashion design all about? Many believe that fashion solely focuses on appearance, but this belief is far from the truth.

Fashion is not merely about looking good. It is about expressing oneself in the most creative way.

I cannot stress enough the importance of this idea, as it forms the underlying basis of this blog and our perspective of the fashion industry. To illustrate my ideas and convey my emotions, I will use Kanye West as an example.

Is attention important?

Let’s discuss this in depth. Attention is crucial for success, whether you are a philosopher or a corporation seeking better deals. By creating a personal reputation in your field, you become more valuable, as you now have a voice that can reach many ears. Attention is important for your success.

Let’s examine this through a philosophical lens.

Again, I believe examples can clarify my point. Let’s discuss Franz Kafka.

Kafka was a brilliant writer and the best novelist of his era, creating groundbreaking works like The Metamorphosis, The Trial, and many more. However, during his lifetime, none of his revolutionary work was released because he never deemed it good enough; all of it was simply stored under his bed.

That remained the case until Kafka’s death on June 3, 1924, in Kierling, Klosterneuburg, Austria, due to Tuberculosis. After his passing, a very dear friend chose to ignore Kafka’s final wish to burn his manuscripts. Instead, he published them, and Kafka’s works later became celebrated as foundational texts of the decade, giving rise to what is now known as the Kafkaesque style.

Why should I share?

In this world, with over 8.1 billion people, hundreds of thousands of Savants have gone unnoticed throughout history. Even if you don’t seek attention, you should share your creations for humanity’s sake. I believe that no one has the right to withhold something so elegant and beautiful, something that humanity has never seen, as it not only inspires but also gives people a reason to live.

Another reason to share:

Since the beginning of life, when we were merely single-celled organisms, our primary purpose has been to pass on knowledge. This sharing of knowledge, known as evolution, is fundamental. I truly believe that we all have a duty to contribute to human evolution as much as we can.

Why, you ask?

I don’t know—it’s just a hunch.

And when we create something, it becomes our responsibility to attract attention to it. Why, you ask? So that its importance is recognized. When we acknowledge that we have created something significant, we experience what is known as intrinsic happiness. This happiness stems from the realization that helping others brings us joy, helps us forge bonds, and makes us grateful to be alive.

I view creation as beautiful and destruction as ugly, yet sometimes to create something beautiful, we need to dismantle the existing system. However, if the system was functioning effectively, there would be no need to destroy it. Therefore, in the cases mentioned above, destruction can indeed be beautiful.

You can disagree with everything I say, but at last, we all agree beauty will save the world. 💕 and we all have seen it, creating is truly beautiful.

The Kanye West.

Here, I am not going to delve into his biography. Instead, I will explain his creative ideology and his unique approach to gaining attention from society.

Now that we have explored why attention is important, let’s discuss how Kanye West excels in ways Kafka did not. [I should note that I am not a big fan of his music, but I am writing this blog to present an unbiased perspective, so bear with me.]

Now, take a moment to look at him. I bet the first thing you notice is his skin colour, not because you’re racist, but because it occupies a large part of the photo. Next, you might see his shiny teeth, which can be explained by an evolutionary perspective: in caveman times, we needed to notice shiny things in our environment to locate water and minerals.

What do you think to yourself when you see his teeth?

See, you fell for it! You noticed them, whether you liked it or not. In other words,

You like it or you hate it, one thing you can’t do is ignore it.

This is the designing ideology of Kanye West: create something so unnatural, non-customary, unusual, or atypical that it compels someone to critique the design. Now, his mission is successful; all he needed was publicity. Once time, a great pal of mine said…

All publicity is good publicity

This attribute is sometimes mistakenly associated with Picasso, but it is just a false connection made by people on TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

Fashion Design and Its Benefits to Creation

One aspect you can leverage through fashion is attracting attention, and making an impact even before meeting anyone. Kanye West excels at this.

Now all I want is for you to rethink how you see Fashion Design.

As discussed earlier, fashion gives you a chance to be beautiful not by looks but by its element of giving you the power of creation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whether you agree or disagree with the perspectives shared, it’s clear that in the realm of fashion design—and indeed, in all creative endeavours—beauty does more than just adorn the world; it saves it, one innovative design at a time. Thank you for joining me on this thought-provoking journey through the world of Fashion Design.
